The whole point of this blog to try to help others through my own distressing experiences. If just one person can benefit or learn something, it makes it all so worth it. Today’s topic is anxiety and IBS (surprise!).
I recently started doing EFT again. I forgot how incredibly wonderful this technique is. This is the video I watched:
The reason I picked this video was from an observation I had about myself. As you know, I used to suffer from debilitating, horrible, almost daily IBS (with diarrhea). It was dreadful and quite traumatizing. Well, I’m virtually cured from it, but it reared its ugly head again last week. I don’t know if anyone else does, but I get extremely emotional when I get IBS. I cry a lot, I feel like a weak person, get very anxious, and wonder if I will ever be normal. So I sat (the best I could) with the uncomfortable physical and mental sensations this time, and asked myself why am I so afraid of IBS? I suddenly remembered my fiance had a bout of norovirius about five or six years ago. (For anyone who doesn’t know what it is, it is one of the scariest things to witness I have ever seen in my whole life). It started as diarrhea, with throwing up and within an hour and a half, my fiance was out cold on the toilet from being dehydrated and I had to call 911. We had to take him to the hospital, where it took over 25 minutes to find a vein (for an IV of fluids), since his veins were totally collapsed from dehydration. It all happened so quickly. It was horrible. The good news is, some fluids and anti-nauseous medication, and you heal 100% within a few days. Now, this doesn’t happen all the time, it is not too common. But what I realized was, I was traumatized from this. Every time I got diarrhea I was constantly monitoring myself, and terrified I was going to get norovirius. I did not realize that until now. I remembered EFT was great for releasing trauma, so I did the EFT video above. I cried a little and felt some great relief.
It is so totally normal to be traumatized from a situation like that. Which brings me to my next point. The next observation I made about myself was, deep down somewhere, I never gave myself permission to be scared, anxious, or stressed. Somewhere buried inside me, I thought I was not allowed to acknowledge stress in my life. Whether it was from my childhood or my own self-conditioning I do not know. But reading that last sentence sounds so ridiculous to me now. Why would you not be allowed to recognize stress? Well, I have spent may years learning about the law of attraction, or the power of our thoughts, and somewhere along my travels I thought if I acknowledged the stress in my life, it would magnify it and also prove that I was ungrateful. For instance, even when things are tough, plenty of people would love to be in my shoes so I should be grateful and not stressed or anxious. What I am learning now is I can be grateful AND allow myself to be anxious or stressed at the same time (you’re not magnifying the stress, just allowing the acknowledgement, we must validate our own emotions). So in this instance, I allowed myself to acknowledge that norovirius was a horrendous thing to go through and anyone would have been effected by it! So if I get IBS again, I will remind myself that norovirius is not common, its normal to be afraid after seeing what I saw, and even if I did get it, I will be okay. (I find running through a mental fact check of my current situation, during anxiety helps ground me).
To further the topic of me realizing I never allowed myself to be stressed, I thought back to when I opened my first business in 2014, by myself (this is when my IBS appeared) and I constantly thought something was wrong with me and I was broken. Where did this IBS come from? WTF is wrong with me? (And I actually remember saying to myself, ‘many people would kill for the opportunity to own their own business, I should not be so anxious). After these new realizations, I can’t even believe I talked to myself like that. And I had that business for a year and a half. It was successful and I even sold it. Of course it was stressful! It was a brand new business, and I have never started my own business before! What a huge relief that feels like to say that…wow. And I personally think my IBS was just manifested emotions that were stuck. Since I wasn’t allowing myself to be anxious or stressed, IBS manifested itself as a cleansing. (bottled up emotional energy can do amazing things to us). This was a big step for me. And I feel lighter as a result of this realization. But this is only part one.
So to recap, I thought I wasn’t allowed to acknowledge stress. Not only that but I wasn’t allowed to express stress. I remember growing up, I was not allowed to be anxious (although I remember my first attack when I was five) because there were always more important things going on, or I was told whatever I was anxious about was “completely ridiculous”. (No validation from my parent of feelings at all). So I learned, I better stuff those emotions or whatever, away because that’s not allowed. So now, I acknowledge my stress, and allow myself to feel anxious! My life is not perfect right now, and anxiety does pop up, but knowing I am not insane or broken, and anyone would be anxious in my shoes is like the biggest weight off my chest.
I have told friends and relatives about this (my brother in particular has been so supportive and I am so grateful) and they all say, ‘well of course you’re anxious over this or that!’ What a relief.
The point of this post if you’re reading this, is maybe your IBS is fear rooted somewhere; or maybe you are not acknowledging your own feelings or validating them. Or your anxiety. But please be kind to yourself. Do not ‘should’ on yourself ever. We are not broken people. EFT, self love, acceptance and allowing work wonders. Sometimes I wonder if all that shit like: IBS, Anxiety, Panic, fear etc, are all just pent up emotions or experiences trying to tell us something. It’s all fear based. Trying to protect us from something (real or in our mind). So during EFT, I thank my anxiety, thank you for trying to protect me. Then, while tapping, I tell it I/we are safe now, and we can handle this and do not need protecting. I am not perfect, but I will never stop trying to learn, improve myself or love myself more than I do now.

Nowadays you hear about gratitude everywhere. Be grateful, stay grateful no matter what, even during trying times. This can be difficult to say the least.
I had an insight about this while laying in bed the other night.
I recently discovered Dr Joe Dispenza (see my post here), and found him so insightful and refreshing. He talks a lot about our emotional patterns, and how our body learns and adapts to them. And ultimately craves what has been familiar. It reminded me of gratitude.
We can always find things to be grateful for. Sometimes hearing that would annoy me, like, ‘Yeah yeah I am grateful I have arms and legs, I get it.’ But it’s actually so much more than that. There have been studies that show being grateful actually changes your brain. It is always a good idea to make gratitude lists, and see how much you have to be grateful for. I do this often, especially if I am feeling down or stressed and to see how far I’ve come. Looking back over my past, I have come a lot further than it feels like at times.
But the reason for this post is if we are constantly ungrateful, then no matter what great circumstances come, our brains will be ‘wired’ to not be grateful. Our brains have unconscious patterns that it learns and gets used to. So it’s not only important to stay grateful to feel a little better, but also so we don’t get stuck in unconscious patterns, so when good stuff does come our way, we can appreciate it.
One last thing. There will always be contrast in your life. For instance, if you have financial lack right now, you may be worried about money. If you win the lottery tomorrow, you may worry about having too much money. Life will always have contrast. We can find things to be grateful in any moment.

I recently discovered Dr Joe Dispenza.
I need to make a post about remarkable he is. Dr Joe is known for being in the movie: What the bleep do we know? Which was a documentary about quantum physics, and our thoughts, which I absolutely loved. (This was made in 2004).
Fast forward to 2016, during my Neville Goddard studies (which I am enthralled in), my brother sent me a link to a video of Dr Joe Dispenza. I didn’t even watch this at first because when I am studying an author or teacher, I have learned from experience that I need to stick to one person/topic or I get off track.
Well, a few days later, he asked me about it, and I decided to watch it. It changed my world. I have always loved the spiritual aspect of change and the subconscious mind, but also had an innate fascination with the scientific facet too.

What I love about Dr Joe are his scientific explanations. For me, studying Neville and Dr Joe, bring the spiritual and the scientific together. They are very different, but have the same message. Shut out the outside world (your senses – through meditation), and become pure consciousness. No person, no thing, no identity.
Neville talks about God being our consciousness, inside of us. Dr Joe has the exact same message; just through science and quantum physics. Dr Joe says, “If you want to change your life by thought alone, then you must become thought alone.” I absolutely LOVE that statement. It’s so true.
Quantum Physics is the science of the very small (subatomic/unseen). Where the regular laws of physics (relativity) apply to molecules and atoms, once down to the subatomic size, these laws no longer apply, and things get strange. Some call it the science of infinite possibilities. At this level, all matter is derived from pure light/energy.
Dr Joe basically talks about these possibilities and how these laws pertain to our minds. He believes we create our realities through our thoughts, and our desires are just thoughts away.
The one thing that Neville and Dr Joe have in common is they both agree it is mandatory to ‘shut the outside world out’ (or meditate) to have any real impact on your reality/life/desires.
What I love most about what Dr Joe has taught me, is some of our emotional reactions are just learned patterns that our body gets accustomed to: the chemical release. After a while, our bodies just unconsciously experience and then crave the same chemicals that it’s used to (positive or negative). I know, this sounds kind of crazy, but hear me out.
Think about when you can’t remember a phone number, so you look at a phone’s number pad and remember. How did you do that? Who did that? It wasn’t your brain. It was your body. Your body develops habits from repetition. Your body also adapts to certain chemical (emotional) reactions. Think of a professional athlete. Their day to day life of physical actions and emotions are going to be different from the average person. The body adapts. The same goes for negative emotional experiences; the body adapts. It actually craves/looks for those same chemicals since that’s what it is used to running on. (This makes so much sense to me as to why things seem to keep reoccurring to me, or others around me).
Why this resonated so much with me, is I used to have IBS. And it just did not make sense. I used to have severe anxiety attacks as well, but never IBS. IBS developed out of nowhere one year, and I just felt in my heart something was wrong with me. (Not necessarily that I had some incurable disease because I don’t believe in that stuff); But that something was just not right. I would get very emotional, anxious and cry when my stomach was upset, then feel some strange relief when it was finally over.
When I heard from Dr Joe that our bodies can get used to certain emotions, even crave them, I had an AHA moment. Something was wrong with me! But I was not broken. My body was just so used to the anxiety, and negative emotional reactions. (I used to worry a great deal every time I got IBS that it was food poisoning or something else extreme). So after hearing Dr Joe say this, I thought to myself, I am not going to overreact, or panic at all. I am just going to let it come and go. And you know what? I don’t even have IBS anymore! It was not easy, our bodies can even go into a withdrawal and push harder for those old, familiar emotions (like trying to worry me even more). What I would (and still) do is when I have a negative or anxious thought/emotion is, immediately replace it. For instance, we all know what relief feels like, (sitting down in a comfy chair after a long day, or going on vacation etc) So just FEEL that emotion. Now I do that all day. Constantly, intentionally make myself feel relief and calm. Sigh out loud, or put a smile on my face (our subconscious takes mental pictures of our face). And I know my body is starting to want those feelings and emotions more. I have noticed a difference in my level of worry and anxiety.
Dr Joe also says when we start to do this, and no longer react to the same old, negative emotional patterns, we are literally re-wiring our brains. Any time we even ponder a ‘what if’ thought, (like, what if I never had IBS again) we are activating our frontal lobe and actually creating new neural pathways! How exciting! And it makes so much sense.
Another thing I do is I am always conscious of my thoughts now. Every single one. Human beings have around 60,000 thoughts a day. What are the chances some of those are negative or the same old thought patterns? Pretty high. Watching my thoughts was eye opening. We get so used to routines and it becomes unconsciously automatic. Just having these intentions changes our brain chemistry. Dr Joe teaches seminars and has done many studies on human brains to back up these claims. I find it all so fascinating and empowering.
And having it coincide with my Neville/spiritual studies, hearing the same message, just proves to me I am on the right track.
“MAN’S FAITH IN GOD IS MEASURED BY HIS CONFIDENCE IN HIMSELF.”
This is literally the very first sentence in the book. We were created in his image so this does make sense. But wow, I feel like I need to soak this in for a while…
I am going to outline my favorite parts of this book, as I did with Neville’s Manifesting Miracles here.
“Man does not command things to appear by his words, which are, more often than not, a confession of his doubts and fears.”
What does that say about affirmations? Interesting…
“Man cannot see how it would be possible to express that which he desires to be by so simple a law as acquiring the consciousness of the thing desired.”
I have come to know, after years and years of my own research and learning, that most things are much more simple than we believe them to be.
“The invitation of the scriptures, “To be absent from the body and be present with the Lord” [2Corinthians 5:8, 1Corinthians 5:3, Colossians 2:5], is not given to a select few; it is a sweeping call to all mankind. The body from which you are invited to escape is your present conception of yourself with all of its limitations, while the Lord with whom you are to be present is your awareness of being.”
“To accomplish this seemingly impossible feat, you take your attention away from your problem and place it upon just being. You say silently but feelingly, “I AM”. Do not condition this awareness but continue declaring quietly, “I AM – I AM”. Simply feel that you are faceless and formless and continue doing so until you feel yourself floating.”
This takes some practice. It is a form of deep meditation that has been around for a very long time. It is totally possible, just requires you to be able to sit alone, undisturbed. The term ‘floating’ is also used when describing sensory deprivation tanks. When all stimulus is removed, we are able to penetrate our subconscious mind; and really relax.
“Floating” is a psychological state which completely denies the physical. Through practice in relaxation and willfully refusing to react to sensory impressions, it is possible to develop a state of consciousness of pure receptivity. It is a surprisingly easy accomplishment. In this state of complete detachment, a definite singleness of purposeful thought can be indelibly engraved upon your unmodified consciousness. This state of consciousness is necessary for true meditation. This wonderful experience of rising and floating is the signal that you are absent from the body or problem and are now present with the Lord; in this expanded state you are not conscious of being anything but I AM – I AM; you are only conscious of being.”
“When this expansion of consciousness is attained, within this formless deep of yourself, give form to the new conception by claiming and feeling yourself to be that which you, before you entered into this state, desired to be. You will find that within this formless deep of yourself all things appear to be divinely possible. Anything that you sincerely feel yourself to be while in this expanded state becomes, in time, your natural expression.”
This above paragraph is paramount to me. Once again Neville definitively explains how to do something. He explains how to achieve ‘floating’. Then he also says once in this expansion, THEN decree your desire. Most people probably don’t go deep enough in their meditation, therefore never penetrating their subconscious mind.
“Now that the law of your being has been revealed to you, begin this day to change your world by revaluing yourself. Too long has man held to the belief that he is born of sorrow and must work out his salvation by the sweat of his brow. God is impersonal and no respecter of persons [Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11]. So long as man continues to walk in this belief of sorrow, so long will he walk. In a world of sorrow and confusion, for the world in its every detail is man’s consciousness crystallized.”
‘Revaluing yourself’. I love that. What value do you put on God? We are made in his image, and that same value should be put on ourselves. Also, most of us on some level believe we are unworthy or not good enough, and spend our entire lives trying to make up for it…’sweat of his brow’. We are worthy simply because we are here.
“You are told in the Book of Numbers that there was a time when men were in their own eyes as grasshoppers and because of this conception of themselves, they saw giants in the land. This is as true of man today as it was the day it was recorded. Man’s conception of himself is so grasshopper-like, that he automatically makes the conditions round about him appear gigantic; in his blindness he cries out for masters to help him fight his giant problems.”
What a concept. Imagine that? We make our problems bigger than they need to be. Worrying is accepting of current negative conditions. Putting faith into the wrong thing. Worry is not trusting God. Our problems do feel big, and we can certainly feel small. Knowing God is inside of us however, makes us a lot less small.
“You will never transcend your present accomplishments through sacrifice and struggle.”
Neville reminds us again. We are already worthy of our desires.
“The works are finished. All that is required of you to let these qualities into expression is the claim – I AM that. Claim yourself to be that which you desire to be and that you shall be.”
No explanation needed…
“Whom do you say that I AM?” [Matthew 16:15, Mark 8:29, Luke 9:20]. This is not a question asked two thousand years ago. It is the eternal question addressed to the manifestation by the conceiver. It is your true self, your awareness of being, asking you, its present conception of itself, “Who do you believe your awareness to be?” This answer can be defined only within yourself, regardless of the influence of another.”
How powerful. Who do you believe yourself to be? Who do you want to be? And ‘regardless of influence of another’ is saying no one can take away how you feel about you.
“Stop looking for signs. Signs follow; they do not precede. Begin to reverse the statement, “Seeing is believing”, to “Believing is seeing”. Start now to believe, not with the wavering confidence based on deceptive external evidence but with an undaunted confidence based on the immutable law that you can be that which you desire to be. You will find that you are not a victim of fate but a victim of faith (your own).”
I for one always looked for signs, as if to make sure I was on the right track. So much of what we knew is backwards. And to have confidence not based on external circumstances is not easy since what we see we believe to be real.
“All that is required of you is to believe. Believe your desires to be garments your savior wears. Your belief that you are now that which you desire to be is proof of your acceptance of life’s gifts. You have opened the door for your Lord, clothed in your desire, to enter the moment you establish this belief.”
This really resonates with me. Everywhere in the bible, it says we are supposed to live a life filled with abundance. ‘Acceptance of life’s gifts’… we are not supposed to struggle.
“No man has faith in God who lacks confidence in himself. Your faith in God is measured by your confidence in yourself. “I and My Father are one” [John 10:30], man and his God are one, consciousness and manifestation are one.”
This is profound. Lacking confidence in ourselves is lacking faith in God. This rings so true for me. God made us in his image. To put ourselves down is like putting God (his creations) down.
“When this belief is so firmly established that you feel confident of results, your desire will embody itself. How it will be done, no man knows. I, your desire, have ways ye know not of [John 4:32]; my ways are past finding out [Romans 11:33]. Your desire can be likened to a seed, and seeds contain within themselves both the power and the plan of self-expression. Your consciousness is the soil. These seeds are successfully planted only if, after you have claimed yourself to be and to have that which you desire, you confidently await results without an anxious thought.”
“To be conscious of being or possessing anything is to be or have that which you are conscious of being or possessing. Therefore, lift yourself to the consciousness of your desire and you will see it automatically outpicture itself. To do this, you must deny your present identity. “Let him deny himself” [Mark 8:34]. You deny a thing by taking your attention away from it. To drop a thing, problem or ego from consciousness, you dwell upon God – God being I AM.”
I believe Neville is talking about meditating. To ‘deny your present identity’ can only be done with you can shut out your senses (meditating). Dwelling upon ‘I AM’ is pure consciousness, while meditating. He also gives us a clue how to do this: To drop a problem, dwell upon God – I AM. (Being present).
“Close your eyes and feel yourself to be faceless, formless and without figure. Approach this stillness as though it were the easiest thing in the world to accomplish. This attitude will assure your success.”
This is a huge key here. ‘Approach this as though it were the easiest thing in the world’. We’re always trying to meditate and reach that state of consciousness, what if we acted like it was easy? What if we acted like all of this was easy?
“The moment you reach a certain degree of intensity so that you actually feel yourself to be a new conception, this new feeling or consciousness is established and in due time will personify itself in the world of form.”
Again, this is from meditation. And not just once, this must be practiced.
“Let me clarify what I mean by effective command. You do not repeat like a parrot the statement, “I AM that I AM”; such vain repetition would be both stupid and fruitless.It is not the words that make it effective; it is the consciousness of being the thing which makes it effective.”
Here we go again. Many, (including myself) would repeat affirmations until we were blue in the face. Its got to have feeling behind it. Although, I am all for ‘fake it until you make it’. If repeating affirmations, sounding like a parrot helps you disassociate from your old thought patterns, then by all means. I know I’ve done it.
“Repeat quietly but with feeling, “I AM – I AM”, until you have lost all consciousness of the world and know yourself just as being. Awareness, the knowing that you are, is Almighty God; I AM. After this is accomplished, define yourself as that which you desire to be by feeling yourself to be the thing desired: I AM that. This understanding that you are the thing desired will cause a thrill to course through your entire being. When the conviction is established and you really believe that you are that which you desired to be, then the second “I AM” is uttered as a cry of victory. This mystical revelation of Moses can be seen as three distinct steps: I AM; I AM free; I really AM!”
Nice big clue here, to know if you’re on the right track during meditations.
“Here is a simple formula. Take your attention from your present conception of yourself and place it on that ideal of yours, the ideal you had heretofore thought beyond your reach. Claim yourself to be your ideal, not as something that you will be in time, but as that which you are in the immediate present.”
At first I was like, how TF do I do that? But it’s easy to think of what you are not happy with in the present. So think of those things, and just reverse it, for example, I am fat, anxious, say I am skinny and calm.
“Can you, in the face of the army of reasons why a thing cannot be done, quietly enter into an agreement with the Lord that it is done?
Can you, now that you have found the Lord to be your awareness of being, become aware that the battle is won?
Can you, no matter how near and threatening the enemy seems to be, continue in your confidence, standing still, knowing that the victory is yours?”
It is said in neuroscience, even pondering things like this, activates the frontal lobe of the brain and starts creating new neural pathways.
“Here is an analogy that might help you to see this mystery:
Suppose you entered a motion-picture theatre just as the feature picture came to its end. All that you saw of the picture was the happy-ending. Because you wanted to see the entire story, you waited for it to unfold again. With the anti-climactic sequence, the hero is displayed as accused, surrounded by false evidence, and all that goes to wring tears from the audience. But, you, secure in the knowledge of the ending, remain calm with the understanding that, regardless of the seeming direction of the picture, the end has already been defined.
In like manner, go to the end of that which you seek; witness the happy end of it by consciously feeling you express and possess that which you desire to express and possess; and you, through faith, already understanding the end, will have confidence born of this knowledge.”
What an incredible analogy.
“Man feels so secure in his man-made laws, opinions and beliefs that he invests them with an authority they do not possess. Satisfied that his knowledge is all, he remains unaware that all outward appearances are but states of mind externalized.”
There are a lot of things we automatically believe as fact or law. This is where quantum physics comes into play as well. (I will get into that in another article).
“It might take a moment or a year – it is entirely dependent upon the degree of conviction. As doubts vanish and you can feel “I AM this”, you begin to develop the fruit or the nature of the thing you are feeling yourself to be. When a person buys a new hat or pair of shoes, he thinks everyone knows that they are new. He feels unnatural with his newly acquired apparel until it becomes a part of him. The same applies to the wearing of the new states of consciousness.When you ask yourself the question, “How would I feel if my desire were at this moment realized?” the automatic reply, until it is properly conditioned by time and use, is actually disturbing.”
I love this. ‘A moment or a year’. It does not have to take long. And I love the analogy of the new shoes, because it does feel unnatural. Asking how it would feel is disturbing is interesting too. It’s because you are going against how you have felt your whole life. This is such a different concept to what we’ve been told or learned.
“Your problem might have you so hypnotized by its seeming reality and naturalness that you find it difficult to wear the new feeling or consciousness”
The reason this can be is our mind-body can become addicted to the chemical reactions it produces (even negative). So when we try to introduce new feelings and emotions, our mind-body’s will tell us to go back to our old ways because it’s familiar and easier. Just like when you decide to exercise and your mind says, ‘start tomorrow’.
“The faith of the undisciplined man cannot really be called faith. For if the armies, medicines or wisdom of man in which his faith is placed be taken from him, his faith and courage go with it. But from the disciplined one the whole world could be taken and yet he would remain faithful in the knowledge that the state of consciousness in which he abides must in due season embody itself.”
This is great. It’s saying faith needs to be unshaken. No matter the evidence.
“Stand still in the psychological state defined as your objective until you feel the thrill of Victory. Then, with confidence born of the knowledge of this law, watch the physical realization of your objective… Set yourself, stand still and watch the salvation of the Law with you…”
This book was really wonderful and I highly recommend anyone reading it. We just need to get into the state we are looking for, and give thanks as if we already have our desire. Think FROM our desired state; not OF it. ❤
As I now compile years of research and study, I have studied God, manifestation, law of attraction, the subconscious mind, the power of our thoughts, and so on for over a decade. I recently read this book and find it to be the ABSOLUTE authority on where to start, on the above subjects. Often, when one learns of such laws and concepts, it’s so exciting, but extremely daunting to figure out where to begin. I believe this book has those answers.
I am going to outline my favorite/key parts below!
“You do not command things to appear by your words or loud affirmations. Such vain repetition is more often confirmation of the opposite. Decreeing is ever done in consciousness. That is: Every man is conscious of being that which he has decreed himself to be.”
That is from the very first page. Most other works on manifestation swear by the use of affirmations. I am not here to prove them wrong, but I find the above statement to be profound. Decreeing is your state of being, your awareness, with authority. To think that manifestation come from our awareness and not just affirmations is wondrous to say the least. Let’s also talk about awareness. What is awareness? according to the dictionary:
Consciousness: Characterized by or having an awareness of one’s environment and one’s own existence, sensations, and thoughts.
Awareness is: Knowledge or perception of a situation or fact.
“Moses discovered God to be man’s awareness of being.” And “The awareness of being is the door through which the manifestations of life pass into the world of form”
Wait, what? God is our awareness of being? God is in each one of us? Woah. That’s deep. So for example, me acknowledging this glass of iced tea in my hand? Who is acknowledging it? God.
Also, the ‘awareness of being’ is being aware that God is our awareness…(marinate on that for a minute).
“If you will give up your former beliefs in a God apart from yourself, and claim God as your awareness of being, you will transform your world with the realization that, ‘I and my father are one’. This statement, ‘I and my father are one but my father is greater than I’, seems very confusing – but if interpreted in the light of what we have just said concerning the identity of God, you will find it very revealing. Consciousness being God, is as the ‘father’. The thing that you are conscious of being is the ‘son’ bearing witness to his father’.”
This is like the conceiver and its conceptions. The conceiver is greater than the conception, but remains one with the conception. Think about this for a second. My consciousness is God, and what I am conscious (aware of) is the son. This idea resonates with me on many levels. Neville also says Jesus is your imagination in another book.
Jesus discovered this truth and said, “If any man should ever come saying, look here or look there, believe them not, for the kingdom of God is within you.”
“In awareness of being, all things are possible. You shall decree a thing and it shall come to pass.”
This is decreeing. Rising in consciousness to our natural state of being. Consciousness is the father that is drawing the manifestations of life unto you.
I have read a lot about affirmations, using vision boards, visualizing etc. ‘Rising in consciousness’ has such a simplicity to it and feels very true to me. You know when something just feels right? That’s this concept for me.
“You must be born again. If you are dissatisfied with your current life, the only way to change it to take your attention away from that which seems so real to you and rise in consciousness to that which you desire to be. You cannot serve two masters (realities), therefore to take your attention from one state of being and place it upon another is to die to one and live to the other.”
I feel Neville really puts these concepts into a different language. Trying to deliberately rise in consciousness seems a lot more doable (not easy) than just visualizing something. He is talking about your entire sense of being. Here is a consciousness scale from David Hawkin’s book, Power vs Force:
Praying is actually recognizing yourself to be that which you desire, rather than the normal accepted form of petitioning God for which you desire. This is why millions of prayers go unanswered. Being conscious of being poor and praying to God for riches does not work. You get what you are conscious of being; which is being poor. Successful prayers are claiming rather than begging. You do this by denying the very evidence of your senses and assume the natural state of being wealthy.
“We are told ‘when you pray go within in secret and shut the door. And that which your father sees in secret, with that you will be rewarded openly.’ We have identified the ‘father’ to be the awareness of being. We have also identified the ‘door’ to be awareness of being. So ‘shutting the door’ is shutting out that which ‘I’ am now aware of being and claiming myself to be that which ‘I’ desire to be.”
So the very moment your claim is established to the point of conviction, you start attracting evidence of your claim. Again, denying your own senses. Just like in other works of manifestation, Neville says do not question the ‘how’ these things will appear. This can be hard if during your day (in consciousness), things seem to come up that you can no ignore. That reminds me of one of my other favorite authors, Catherine Ponder. She says to boldly say: ‘No! I will NOT accept this condition as permanent! With God, my life, health, and wealth cannot be limited!’ So I will often just say to myself, I do NOT accept this condition. (Whether it be a comment from someone, or basically anything that is not agreeance with your desire).
Using virgin Mary as a metaphor, Neville says:
“Mary was not a woman giving birth in some miraculous way to ‘Jesus’. Mary is the awareness of being that ever remains virgin, no matter how many desires it gives birth to. Right now look upon yourself as this virgin Mary – being impregnated by yourself through the medium of desire – becoming one with your desire to the point of embodying and giving birth to your desire.”
I am not even sure I can even add anything to the above text. Amazing.
“So it is said of Mary (whom you now know to be yourself) that she know no man. Yes she conceived. That is, you (the reader) have no reason to believe that, that which you now desire is possible, but having discovered your awareness of being to be God, you make this awareness your husband and conceive a man child (manifestation). The first command to her (you the reader) is, ‘Go tell no man.’ That is, do not discuss your desires with another for the other will only echo your present fears. Secrecy is the first law to be observed in realizing your desire.”
Uhh wow. So our awareness is God. I can feel this notion in my heart. It feels so true. And the ‘don’t tell anyone’ part is interesting, and something a lot of us probably do. When we are in a good space and want to tell everyone of ‘what’s coming’. That’s a death wish for your desire.
“We are also told to ‘Magnify the Lord’, we have identified the Lord as your awareness of being. Therefore to magnify the Lord is to revalue or expand one’s present conception of one’s self to the point this revaluation becomes natural.”
What I think Neville means here is don’t put limits on yourself. See yourself as being able to do anything possible. If God is our consciousness and we are one with God, then we can do anything
because we have God.
“In the beginning was the Word.” The ‘word’ is the desire is swimming around in your consciousness – seeking embodiment. The urge (desire) itself has no reality, for, ‘I AM’ or the awareness of being is the only reality. Things only live as long as I AM aware of being them; so to realize one’s desire, the second line of that verse must be applied. ‘And the word was with God.’ The word (desire) must be united with consciousness to give it reality. Your awareness becomes aware of the thing desired, nailing itself upon form/conception”
“Now if it’s a state of health that you are desirous of attaining, before you have any evidence of health in your world, you must begin to FEEL yourself to be healthy. And the very second that ‘I AM’ and health have agreed to be one, this agreement results in the birth of a child which is the thing agreed upon, (in this case health).”
One of my first questions was how do I make myself feel something that I am not? Feeling starts with being present. A lot of us are living unconsciously. We just go about our days, go to work, go home, and start over. Everything sort of blends together. Can you remember the details of what you saw out of your window on your drive to work this morning? Probably not. Feeling things, or being more conscious starts with small steps, like being present during your drive to work. Noticing every detail. We need to start feeling things again. Feel the rain, feel the grass on your feet, notice the sun on your forehead, take some time to meditate. Don’t have a goal, just sit quietly with your breath. These are the things (I believe) we must do before we try to feel ourselves into that which we desire to be. Once you’re in the habit of ‘feeling life’ (being conscious), you can begin to feel your desires. Another thing you can do, is imagine you’re getting ready to star in a movie or a play, and you need to get into character. Let’s say you are a wicked witch. It’s not to hard to imagine, and be able to get into character, (imagining the voice, intentions, costume)… It’s the same with our desires.
“Now here is something to keep in mind. You cannot take with you into new consciousness any part of the old man. All your present beliefs, fears and limitations are weights that bind you to your present level of consciousness. To transcend this level, you must leave behind all that is now your present self.”
How do you do this was my first question! Take away your attention from all that is now your problems or limitations, and dwell upon just being. (Do not pretend they are not there, just turn away).
“That is: you say silently, but feeling to yourself, ‘I AM.’ do not condition this ‘awareness’ as yet. Just declare yourself to be, and continue to do so, until you are lost in the feeling of just being – faceless and formless. Only when this consciousness is attained, then, within this formless deep of yourself give form to the new conception by FEELING yourself to be THAT which you desire to be.”
And there it is. The beginning of any successful manifestation. We all read so many books on these subjects and want to know how, and where to begin to manifest. Well it has to start with just being. You cannot manifest anything without being consciousness and aware. And also actually knowing and feeling what or who your consciousness is. Neville goes on to say:
“In this deep of yourself you will find all things to be divinely possible. Everything in the world which you can conceive of being, is to you, within this present formless awareness, a most natural attainment.”
The above is why no one can manifest truly great things, except a few! THIS right here is the secret. We need to be ‘in the deep of yourself’, deeply relaxed, a meditative state, or floating. Otherwise we are not penetrating our subconscious. I don’t think anyone else touches on that aspect like Neville.
“…to be absent from the body and present with the Lord.’ The ‘body’ being your former conception of yourself and the ‘Lord’ is your awareness of being. You leave behind your present conception of yourself and assume the nature of the new birth. You will continue to out-picture your present limitations.”
I like that he says ‘new birth’ here. We literally give birth to a new self.
“The only way to change your life is to change consciousness. Consciousness is the reality that eternally solidifies itself in the things around you.”
What you focus on. What you put your attention on. You don’t try to pretend anything isn’t there or happening, you just turn away from it.
“Never shall there come a time when that which I am convinced that I am, shall fail to find me. Your awareness of being is lord and shepherd of your life. So, ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want’ is seen it its true light now to be your consciousness. You could never be in want of proof, or lack the evidence of that which you are aware of being.”
So with that being said, why not become aware of being great, God-loving, wealthy, healthy and everything you admire?
“It is just as easy to possess the consciousness of these qualities as it is to posses their opposites. For you have not your present consciousness because of your world. On the contrary, your world is what it is because of your present consciousness. Simple, is it not? Too simple in fact for the wisdom of man that tries to complicate everything.”
And here we are again. I have studied books upon books upon books over the years. I overcomplicated everything. We often think the answer cannot be so simple; right here in front of us.
“Man continues to walk in darkness rather than awake to the being that he is. Man has so long worshipped the images of his own making that at first he finds this revelation blasphemous, since it spells death to all his previous beliefs in a God apart from himself. This revelation will bring the knowledge that ‘I and my Father are one but my Father is greater than I’. You are one with your present conception of yourself. But you are greater than that which you are presently aware of being.”
We as humans have always thought our ‘higher power’ or God is apart from ourselves. Worshipped on the outside. This is another reason many people will not find or understand this text. If something goes against what you’ve always believed, you shy away from it. It is too much to comprehend.
“Before man can attempt to transform his world, he must first lay the foundation – ‘I AM the Lord’ That is, man’s awareness, his consciousness of being is God. Until this is firmly established so that no suggestion or argument put forward by others can shake it, he will find himself returning to the slavery of his former beliefs. When you have lifted up the son of man, then shall you know that I AM he (that is I, the reader) do nothing of myself, but my Father, or the state of consciousness which I am now one with does the works.”
I love this for two reasons. First, here we are again, Neville reminding us there is no point trying to manifest anything into existence until we are aware of our own true being. Secondly, when we feel like we cannot do anything, that we have no power, we learn our power comes from God. How wonderful and fulfilling.
“A proof of this established consciousness is in the words, ‘Thank you Father.’ When you come into the joy of thanks so that you actually feel grateful for having received that which is not yet apparent to your senses, you have definitely become one in consciousness for the thing for which you give thanks. ‘Thank you Father’ is not as it is used by many today. You never need to utter aloud the words. In applying this principle as you rise in consciousness to the point where you are really grateful and happy for having received the thing desired, you automatically rejoice and give thanks inwardly. You faith is now the substance that shall clothe your desire.”
This is a substantial clarification. Thank you Father, as a feeling, not spoken word…Your faith is the substance that shall clothe your desire. Wow.
“For whatsoever ye ask in my name the same I give unto you’. ‘Whatsoever’ is quite a large measure. It is the unconditional. It does not state if society deems it right or wrong that you ask it, it rests with you. Do you really want it? Do you desire it? That is all that is necessary. Life will give it to you if you ask ‘in his name’.”
I have struggled for years and years and years. When something didn’t manifest, I would think maybe it was not what God wanted. And I was wrong all along. It has nothing to do with what God wants. It has to do with what I believe and feel I am worthy of. Also, this is a relief in the sense that we really are able to have anything we desire. There is no limit. If God wanted a million dollars, does he deserve it? What a preposterous question! Of course he does! So think of yourself just as worthy. God is our consciousness. Be conscious of the best. Thinking of yourself any smaller is doing a disservice to God.
“His name is not a name you pronounce with your lips. You can ask forever on the name of God, and you will ask in vain. To really ask in his name is to rise in consciousness and become one with the thing desired. Praying is recognition. The injunction to believe that ‘ye receive’ is first person, present tense. This means you must be in the nature of the things asked for before you can receive them.”
I for one have always prayed (outloud or silently) in God’s name. Not in consciousness, ever. Here is another perfect example of our misconceptions.
“Therefore when you claim yourself to be anything, you have given that claim or quality to God.”
So if you (silently) call yourself dumb, fat, broke – you are calling God those things…
“From now on, give to God the quality that you desire as man to express, by claiming yourself to be the great, the wealthy, the loving, the wise.”
We think of God as these things: wealthy, loving and wise. Think of yourself as these things. Whatever you think of God to be (high, mighty, all-powerful, all-knowing) think of yourself like that. I absolutely love this notion.
“Do not speculate as to how you shall express these qualities or claims, for life has a way that you, as man know not of. But I assure you, the day you claim these qualities to the point of conviction, your claims will be honored.”
The ‘how’ is always the biggest issue for many people, including myself. We wonder how we are going to become wealthy for example… this takes the pressure off of us. The truth is, the ‘how’ was never up to us in the first place; it’s always been in God’s hands. Our only job is to discover our true desires and become conscious of them.
“To dissolve a problem that seems so real to you, all that you do is remove your attention from it. Turn from it in consciousness. Become indifferent and begin to feel yourself to be that which would be the solution of the problem.”
This was so big to me. I hear a lot of, ‘turn your attention from something’, but how? Become indifferent. Withdraw your emotional attachment.
“If you are hungry, food is your savior. If you are poor, your savior is riches. Claim it in consciousness – not in words – and consciousness will reward you with your claim. FEEL yourself to be it. When you lose yourself in the feeling of being it. the quality will embody itself in your world.”
“Yes begin to believe in your awareness, your consciousness of being to be God. Claim for yourself all the attributes that you have before now given to an external God and you will begin to express these claims”
So, like Neville said previously – all the characteristics you have labeled God with, label yourself with. Mighty, powerful, all-knowing, wise, wealthy, infinite…Let that soak in for a minute.
“For I am not a God far off. I am nearer than your hands and feet – nearer than your breathing. I am your awareness of being.”
He’s been inside us all along.
“So blessed indeed is the man that trusteth in himself – for the man’s faith in God will ever be measured by his confidence in himself. You believe in God, believe also in ME.”
Wow, so how confident you are in yourself is a measure of your faith in God. It makes sense too. If we are created in his image, then putting ourselves down is like putting God (and his creation) down.
“Put not your trust in men for men, but reflect the being that you are. You can only bring to yours or do unto you that which you have first done unto yourself.”
I believe Neville means, do not then put your faith/trust in men. But the God inside of us.
“It is impossible for the poor man to find wealth in this world no matter how he is surrounded with it, until he first claims himself to be wealthy. Signs follow. They do not precede. To constantly complain about the limitations of poverty while remaining in poor consciousness is to play the fool’s game. Changes cannot take place from that level of consciousness for life is always out-picturing all levels.”
I for one am always looking for ‘signs’. So this is paramount. They follow. They don’t come and then my desire happens.
“The measurements of right and wrong belong to man alone. To life there is no right or wrong. Stop asking yourself if you are worthy or unworthy to receive that which you desire. You as man, did not create the desire. Your desires are ever fashioned within you because of what you now claim yourself to be.”
Again, for all those who struggle with worth… here is your answer. God gave you this desire. As Joseph Murphy would say, ‘The almighty power is now backing me up, revealing to me the perfect plan of its unfoldment, and I rest in that conviction.’ And I also have wondered in the past, where did this desire come from? Why is it so strong? Here is our answer.
“Faith is the substance of the thing hoped for – the evidence of the thing not yet seen.’ Do not be anxious or concerned as to results. They will follow just as surely as day follows night.”
I can tell you first hand, it takes immense faith for what is hoped for or not seen yet…This stuff is not easy or everyone would be a master.
“Look upon your desires – all of them – as the spoken word of God, and every word or desire as a promise. The reason most of us fail is we are constantly conditioning them. Do not condition your desire. Just accept it as it comes to you. Give thanks for it to the point that you are already grateful for having already received it – then go about your way in peace.”
Ok, so desires are a promise from God? How do you feel grateful for already having it? How long does that take? It is something that takes practice. Sitting alone, shutting the external world out. As Neville said previously, turning your attention away from your current problems and limitations. meditating and visualizing.
“To be worried or concerned about the HOW of your desire maturing is to hold these fertile seeds in a mental grasp, and, therefore, never to have dropped them in the soil of confidence.”
This is a tough one too. It’s almost our nature to worry about the how since we are human beings, we are doers. But the above statement proves why we stay in limbo.
“The reason men condition their desires is because they constantly judge after the appearance of being and see the things as real – forgetting the only reality is the consciousness of them. To see things as real is to deny that all things are possible to God. The man who is imprisoned and sees his four walls as real is automatically denying the urge or promise of God within him of freedom.”
This is profound and hard to grasp. We have always seen things as real because we never knew any different. And ‘to see things as real is to deny that all things are possible to God’ is amazing and requires some pondering.
“Leave behind all that is now your present problem, or limitation by taking your ATTENTION AWAY from it. Turn your back completely on every problem and limitation that you now Possess. Dwell upon just being by saying, ‘I AM’, ‘I AM’, ‘I AM’, to yourself. Continue to declare to yourself that you just are. Do not condition this declaration, just continue to FEEL yourself to be and without warning you will find yourself slipping the anchor that tied you to the shallow of your problems and moving out into the deep.”
Neville goes on to say that with this feeling of expansion, you will actually feel yourself expand, as if you’re actually growing. But do not be afraid. You are not dying. The only thing that will die is are your former limitations.
I had an insight as I am writing this. When you wake up in the morning, and take your first breath, do you hope there is enough oxygen during the day to breathe? Nope. Of course not. I was trying to think of how to go from wanting more wealth to knowing you have it. And it’s similar to breathing. You don’t even think about it, you just breathe and KNOW there is enough oxygen.
“Because I AM (your consciousness) is the resurrection and the life, you must attach this resurrecting power that you are to the thing desired if you want to make it appear and live in your world. Now you begin to assume the nature of the thing desired by feeling, ‘I AM wealthy’, ‘I AM free’, ‘I AM strong’, When these ‘FEELS’ are fixed within yourself, your formless being will take upon itself the forms of the things felt. Remain buried in the stillness of these convictions. Then, as a thief in the night, and when you least expect it, these qualities will be resurrected in your world as living realities.”
I believe Neville says to do this after the previous state is achieved. (Repeating I AM until you feel it). Then, you can attach the desired feeling to it.
Here’s a great example of turning from your problems, the story of Daniel and the lions den:
“Daniel, while in the lion’s den, turned his back upon the lions and looked towards the light coming from above; that the lions remained powerless and Daniel’s faith in God saved him. This is also your story. If you were in a lion’s den you would have no other concern but lions! Yet, you are told Daniel turned his back upon them and looked towards the light that was God. If we would follow the example of Daniel, while imprisoned within the den of poverty and sickness, take our attention away from debts and sickness and dwell upon what we seek.”
“Go within and close the door.’ That is, shut the door of the evidence of the senses that tell you of empty measures, debts, and problems.”
To me this also means shut out the outside world. Meditate in quiet.
“When you have taken your attention away completely by ‘shutting the door’, you begin to FEEL the joy of having received the things desired.”
“Recognition is the power than conjures in the world. Every state that you have ever recognized, you have embodied. That which you recognize as true of yourself today is that which you are experiencing. So recognize joy, no matter how little the beginnings of recognition, and you will be generously rewarded. The world is a magnified mirror magnifying everything that you are conscious of being.”
This is also applied to gratitude. Start to feel grateful for even the smallest things.
“I AM the Lord, the God. which has brought you out of the house of bondage’. What a glorious revelation! Your awareness now revealed as the Lord thy God! Awaken from your dream of being imprisoned, realize that the earth is yours. ‘And the fullness thereof; the world, and all that dwells therein.”
Neville says it over and over. There is no limit. God created us and this earth. If we are all one, then we are one with this earth as well.
“Now with your memory restored, DECREE the unseen to appear and it SHALL appear, for all things are compelled to respond to the Voice of God, your awareness of being – the world is AT YOUR COMMAND!”

And there you have it. I absolutely loved this book. And this is 100% how I got to where I am today.
I own my own business and love watermarking my images. But sometimes you need to do it on the fly, and not wait until you are at a computer (like posting to instagram for example). This is my favorite way to watermark photos from my phone. I use iWatermark (free) for this.
First we will need to create a logo/image to use as a watermark. (This needs to be on your phone already). So if it’s on your computer, plug your phone into your computer via USB and place the picture file in the same folder as your other pictures on your phone.

Creating the watermark only needs to be done once, but it does require a few extra steps than just watermarking a photo. I will explain both. First, open up iWatermark and select the picture you want to watermark (it’s a little backwards, but the app doesn’t let you create a watermark until you’ve selected the photo you want to watermark).
Then select your photo and click done:
Now it brings you back to the main app screen (you will notice your photo is behind the menu). Select create graphic watermark:
No click image and find/select your logo for your watermark:
You will now see your logo on your photo:
Here you can resize your logo by pinching two fingers on it, and change the angle etc. I like to change the opacity to 50% on mine (this is just my preference) Click the edit button bottom left:
Now I will save my watermark. Click Save and Exit, then pick a name for your watermark:
Now you will be brought back to your main menu screen again. Select watermark photo:
Once clicked, a list of watermarks will come up. The one you just created should be the first one (there are some generic watermarks in there as well for you to use:
Once selected, hit save. You can also reposition the watermark at this step too.
Then click save & exit at the bottom. You can share this directly to instagram etc from here. I like to save it to my photo library.
Note: Once the watermark is created, you can simply open a photo, select watermark photo, and save it. Nice and easy.
I was recently asked how I watermark my photos, so I am going to do two separate write ups. One for how to do it on a computer and another on how to do it on your phone.
The first thing you will need to do is make sure your logo has a transparent background. If it does not, you will need to open it in Windows Paint and convert it from a jpg to a png file.
Right click on your image, select open with > paint. Once in Paint, click save as > scroll down to .png and click save.
Now go back to your logo file and open it in Snag It (snag it can be downloaded here).
(NOTE: I always save this stuff on my desktop, you can move it later. Keep it easy to find for now).
Now we need to get rid of the background color of the image. Your logo might look something like this:
In snag it, click on the draw tab up top, right next to file. Then click on the bucket icon, click the fill button, and select transparent. Then use the point of your bucket icon and click to make things transparent. See a my video on this step here:
Next you will need to open the image in snag it that you want to watermark. (I am using a picture of my jeep).
Now we will create the watermark.
First click on the image tab up top (next to draw).
Over on the right up top there is a little button watermark with a water droplet icon. Click on it. Now you need to find your watermark logo/image. Where it says file location, click it and find your logo, hopefully it’s on your desktop.
Then click open. See how I did it here:
Now you will see the watermark is probably not the size you are looking for. We also have the choice to underlay or overlay the watermark. (It automatically does overlay).
Here is how to adjust the scale for an overlay watermark:
An Underlay watermark is a little trickier since there are different angle options to underlay it. It’s basically your preference. I will show you how I did it here:
Also keep in mind, whatever watermark you use, style and size are saved in snag it’s settings next time you click the watermark button.
